LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE.
I love that the narration switches between the brother/sister pair and that each character not only has a very distinct voice, those voices are very different from Percy Jackson and all three of those voices read very much like teens. It just speaks to Riordan’s mastery of the teen voice.
The characters of Sadie and Carter are each awesome. Sadie is the more rebellious teen, where Carter is quieter and more bookish, but they’re believably brother and sister. And the issues they deal with being bi-racial are brushed gently on in the book, not brushed over, but a small gentle reminder like a kick in the gut every once in a while.
I love that the Egyptian mythology here, and now I want to go out and read more about the Egyptian myths and history. A huge daunting task I know.
I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I await with baited breath.
