The Reading Jackalope

Palimpsest - Catherynne M. Valente I loved this. A book about how we get to the wondrous places, to fairyland if you will. And the great thing is, it's through sharing and communicating and being with each other that we create and find it.

I suppose the first thing you need to understand about this book is that it has sex in it. But I've read far more explicit sex in many other novels. Still, that is one hurdle to the book and I understand why it might turn people away.

The writing is beautiful. Valente has a lyrical mastery of words and that gives the book a timeless feel. The characters are wonderfully human and deeply flawed, lovable because of their flaws.

Excellent book, well worth reading.
