The Reading Jackalope

Super fun read, with all the creepy elements that I love about Nix's writing. I dont' know if it was intended but I sort of read this book as a companion to Shade's Children, as there were very similar themes going on in both novels (though I will admit, it's been a while since I've read Shade's Children).

I did think the novel was a little rushed. The romance between Khem and Raine happened almost instananiously, Khem went from thinking of Raine as he thought of all other normal humans to loving her in the flip of one page. It was a bit abrupt. And so I thought a bit more time spent on Khem's experience with the normal humans could have been beneficial.

However, despite that, I really did enjoy the novel. It was quick and engaging.
